Dawn Ross recaps the event for us...
Sunday, June 11th was our biggest Young Eagle event to date!
Thank you to the ground crew and volunteers for continuing to be there to get everyone where they need to be and to answer any questions that parents and Young Eagles have throughout the event. You are an invaluable part of these events.
With the help of everyone on Sunday, including the 9 pilots that we had flying, we were able to fly 110 Young Eagles! This is the chapters new record which was 100 that we flew on September 29, 2019. Alexei Smirnov flew his first Young Eagles with us at this event and we hope to see him at many more. Dick Wedemeyer returned to NJ and flew with us once again. There were many smiling Young Eagles that we saw after they flew and a number of them continue to show an interest in learning to fly.
After the flights on Sunday, the chapter has flown 266 Young Eagles this year and a total of 2,743 since the program began. "Great Job" to everyone!
Special thanks to Diane for always doing a great job registering the Young Eagles. We also had Reva Mathankar helping to print certificates and passing them out. Riva started as a Young Eagle with us and flew with our pilots on a few occasions. She is in high school and has now joined the chapter and is volunteering at the Young Eagle events and has already started taking flying lessons at Lincoln Park. Beverly Weintraub joined us at the table helping with log books and answering questions. Thank you Beverly and we look forward to you joining our pilots in the air at the next Young Eagles event.
