Yes, that is daylight under the bow!! Arnold Anger (GMSN 56-58) scanned this photo from his 1957-1958 cruisebook. It was taken during a storm near the Azores in December 1957. Fuel reserves of ships in company ran very low before the storm eased enough to refuel.
