41 USS Gearing operations photos taken between
1952-1954 by Christian S. Ciampaglia, YN2.

These photos were donated to USS Gearing Asociation in May 2017 by Christian Ciampaglia's daughter Angela, in memory of her late father. The handwriting on the back of many of the photos is no doubt that of Christian Ciampaglia. Shipmates who can identify the sailors in these pictures are encouraged to copy the photo number (under each photo) and email (see address below) the photo number and names to webmaster Don Provost (LTJG 64-67) so they can be properly identified on this site.

USS Gearing was then a Destroyer Squadron 4 ship, based in Norfolk. In the 1952 to 1954 period Gearing made three Med. cruises, was overhauled at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, got REFTRA at GTMO and visited the Caribbean on Operation Springboard.
